Nicole Thomas [Photographer]

In 2002, Nicole turned her passion into her profession. After years of photographing her family, friends, and freelance clients, Nicole Thomas Photography came to life.

Since then, Nicole has become one of the premier child photographers in Chicago and its North Shore suburbs (while the sunny West Coast is quickly discovering her talent!)

Nicole specializes in images that celebrate individual personalities and that capture the spirit and essence of her subjects. Whether on-location with natural light or in her studio, her fun and energetic approach produces true-to-life images.

With a degree from Columbia College concentrating in both Photography and Graphic Design, Nicole brings a blend of creative perception, composition, and perspective to each session.

While the majority of Nicole's subjects are children, spontaneous and in their element, she excels in specialized portraiture ranging from corporate/executive headshots and child modeling to pregnancy and newborn photography. Her ability to capture natural yet professional images for each subject keeps things flexible and interesting...and fun!

Nicole works with such prestigious clients as Ford Modeling Agency (kids division), C.B. Richard Ellis and, of course, all of the wonderful families she has come to know over the years.

Her work is on display throughout Chicagoland and the North Shore at various children’s boutiques and businesses. It is also featured in the book, Little Red Heads Across America.

Monica [Jill of All Trades]
From making custom frames and building props for the studio, to album and image mounting, to frame wall installations, painting, equipment repair, on and on and on, Monica can truly do it all.

Following her intense passion for creativity, Monica attended the School of the Art Institute and graduated with a degree in historical restoration, which she put to work as a member of the NTP team.

Monica's keen eye for color and attention to detail allow her to see varying aspects of design in a fashion that others may not be able to. Her abilities as a seamstress, homemaker, and mother of two college-age daughters are apparent in the work place. She can connect with others on an artistic and friendly level and has been an incredibly positive and essential member of the NTP team for many years.

Nathan [Mac Tech]

Nathan has been a part of Nicole Thomas Photography since its creation.

Ironically, the first project Nathan worked on at NTP was to create our original website (2 or 3 websites ago) and now, over a decade later, he is once again working to create a website where our clients can easily find what they are looking for.

As "tech whisperer," he manages all of the computer technology and digital equipment in the studio. This means ensuring that our over one million images are backed up and secure at all times.

Nathan attended Stanford University with a degree in Feminist Studies and a focus in Computer Science.

Many of Nate's original ideas remain in the framework of the company today.

Kyle [Senior Retoucher]

Kyle has been an essential addition to the NTP Team for over eight years. He attended school at Columbia College with a major in Photography.

All images that Kyle retouches have a delicacy to them that cannot be found anywhere else. He allows for the image to come alive, capturing the essence of family and innocence. His talent is apparent in all of Nicole's images and each one benefits tremendously from his touch.

Kyle, in his free time, teaches photoshop classes and rides his motorcycle. He recently got married and is enjoying the good life :)

Ashley [Assistant]

Her outgoing personality and upbeat attitude are only a small aspect of what makes Ashley such a great assistant.  She is great with kids and always brings an optimistic and exciting feel to the shoots that she works on.

Ashley's interest in graphic design plays a large role in her hard work here at NTP and her passion for the art of photography shines as she assists with both studio shoots and location shoots.

Ashley is now beginning her first year at University of Michigan.

Jessica [Staff]

Jessica attended Loyola University for her undergraduate studies and is continuing there now, in her second year of law school.

Jessica has been with NTP for well over two years, helping out in all aspects of the business. She helps clients book their session and place their orders and does many of our custom frame projects and installations.

Jessica is a great photo assistant both on-location and in the studio where she has managed the entire flow of the photo process, ensuring our clients are happy with their experience.

In her free time Jessica loves taking pictures of her friends and family.

Shannon [Studio Manager/Art Director]

Shannon joined the team just over a year ago and has since become an instrumental member of the studio, wrangling all things creative and logistical.

She has 15 years of past experience working with Art Departments across the US as an Art Director, Stylist, Set Designer, Set Dresser, Prop Stylist, Location Scout, and Producer and has brought all this know-how to Nicole Thomas Photography. Her expertise in production facilitates planning each of our shoots, be it a family portrait, professional headshot, or for a commercial catalog or corporate website update.

In post-production, Shannon is typically the team member to sit down with clients for image selection and curation. Her experience in design and installation enables her to assist clients in selecting the best format to display images, all while keeping in mind each person's own unique style.

Shannon spends her free time painting, hiking, camping, exploring museums, and attending music and theatre productions. She studied Scenic, Costume, and Lighting Design for Theatre and received her Bachelors in Art History from the University of South Florida.
